Bed Bug Heat Treatment Bundle
Professional electric heat treatment combined with residual protection and canine verification. Eliminate bed bugs in a single day.
What's Included: The Heat Treatment Bundle
Our integrated heat treatment bundle combines three proven methods into one comprehensive solution. This approach eliminates bed bugs at every life stage while providing residual protection against reintroduction. Click each step below for more details.
1 Thermal Remediation (Heat Treatment) +
University studies have confirmed that all stages of bed bugs, including eggs, die when the ambient air reaches 120-122°F. We raise your home's temperature to 135-145°F using professional electric heaters and maintain it for our signature 6-hour treatment time.
Why Heat Works
- Heat penetrates all areas where bed bugs nest—not just your bed, but dresser drawers, bookshelves, picture frames, wall voids, and every other hiding place
- Kills bed bugs at every life stage: eggs, nymphs, and adults
- Bed bugs are extremely resilient to chemical pesticides, but cannot survive sustained heat exposure
- No chemical residue in your living spaces
How We Do It
- We use specialized electric heating equipment, thermostats, and sensors to safely heat your home
- High-velocity fans create a "heat vortex" for even distribution
- Our technicians monitor interior temperatures throughout the treatment
- At regular intervals, beds, dressers, and furniture may be moved or adjusted to allow proper heat penetration
- Most structures reach lethal temperature within 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, then the 6-hour treatment time begins
Why Electric Heat?
We use electric heaters rather than propane. Electric heat is safer, produces no fumes, and allows for more precise temperature control. This protects both your family and your belongings.
2 Liquid Residual Application (Crack & Crevice) +
During a typical service, our technician applies a crack and crevice application on the interior of your structure. This professional-grade residual insecticide creates a protective barrier that continues working for weeks after treatment.
Why Add Chemical Treatment to Heat?
- Heat kills everything present on treatment day, but provides no ongoing protection
- Residual insecticides kill any bed bugs that might be reintroduced from hotels, public transit, or visitors
- Creates a "safety net" in case any bugs survived in naturally cooler areas (pipes, foundations)
- Targets entry points and travel paths bed bugs commonly use
Where We Apply
- Baseboards and floor/wall junctions
- Cracks and crevices around bed frames and furniture
- Behind headboards and nightstands
- Door frames and window frames
- Any identified entry points or harborage areas
Safety
We use professional-grade products applied according to label directions. The products we use are designed for indoor residential use and are safe for your family and pets once dry. We'll provide specific re-entry instructions if needed.
3 Desiccant Dust Treatment (Wall Voids) +
Toward the end of the heat service, our technician applies desiccant dust in strategic areas, including wall voids. This provides long-lasting protection that bed bugs cannot develop resistance to.
How Desiccants Work
- Desiccants (like CimeXa or Diatomaceous Earth) work mechanically, not chemically
- They damage the waxy outer layer of bed bugs, causing them to dehydrate and die
- Because it's a physical mechanism, bed bugs cannot develop resistance to desiccants
- Provides years of protection in undisturbed areas like wall voids
Where We Apply
- Wall voids (through electrical outlets and switch plates)
- Behind baseboards where accessible
- Inside box springs and furniture voids
- Attic and crawl space entry points
- Any structural voids where bed bugs might travel or hide
4 Third-Party Canine Inspection (Optional) +
For complete peace of mind, we offer third-party canine inspection to verify treatment success. Our certified bed bug detection dogs have a 97%+ accuracy rate—far exceeding visual inspection alone.
Why Canine Inspection?
- Trained detection dogs can find bed bugs that humans miss, especially in early-stage or low-level infestations
- Dogs can detect live bed bugs and viable eggs hidden in walls, furniture, and other inaccessible areas
- Provides documented verification that your home is bed bug-free
- Required for guarantee verification if live bed bugs are suspected post-treatment
When to Schedule
- Pre-Treatment: Pinpoint the problem before treatment to ensure targeted service
- Post-Treatment (14-30 days): Verify complete elimination after our heat treatment
- Routine Monitoring: For property managers, hotels, and high-risk environments
Our Canine Standard
When a canine alerts to an area, we require the handler to return to that location and find physical proof of bed bug activity. This eliminates false positives and ensures you're only treating confirmed infestations.
⚠️ Required Notice: Systems That Must Be Addressed
AIR CONDITIONING, HEATERS, SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, GAS AND BURGLAR UNITS. The occupant must turn off any and all of these and similar units before treatment is to be performed by the COMPANY. This includes turning gas off at the meter. No open flames or pilot lights are to be on or restarted until after the COMPANY'S treatments have been concluded. If the systems cannot be turned off for any reason before any services are performed, the customer understands the COMPANY and insurers will not be held responsible for any property or damages caused by any of these units, systems or similar mechanical items.
This language is included in all service agreements and must be dated and signed before any dry heat services are performed. View complete legal terms.

Why Heat + Residual Beats Heat-Only or Chemical-Only
Many pest control companies offer either heat treatment or chemical treatment alone. While both can work, our integrated approach delivers significantly better results. Here's why:
| Factor | Heat Only | Chemical Only | Our Bundle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kills eggs? | ✓ | ✗ | ✓ |
| Same-day elimination? | ✓ | ✗ | ✓ |
| Residual protection? | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Reaches wall voids? | ~ | ✗ | ✓ |
| Kills resistant bugs? | ✓ | ~ | ✓ |
| Single treatment needed? | ✓ | ✗ (2-3 visits) | ✓ |
| Protection if bugs return? | ✗ | ~ | ✓ |
Heat eliminates the current infestation by raising temperatures above the lethal threshold (120°F+) for all life stages. University studies confirm that bed bug eggs, nymphs, and adults all die when exposed to temperatures of 120-122°F for sustained periods.
Residual treatments prevent reintroduction. Even after successful heat treatment, you might unknowingly bring new bed bugs home from hotels, public transit, or visitors. Our residual application kills any bugs that enter treated areas for weeks after your treatment.
Desiccant dust provides long-term protection in hard-to-reach areas like wall voids, electrical outlets, and baseboards. Unlike traditional insecticides, bed bugs cannot develop resistance to desiccants—they work mechanically by damaging the bug's waxy outer layer.
Step-by-Step Timeline: What to Expect
For detailed information about your service day, download our Service Day Expectations guide. Here's an overview of the treatment process:
Day Before: Preparation
Follow our Thermal Preparation Checklist (provided via email or downloadable here). Remove heat-sensitive items, address clutter, and launder clothing you'll wear on treatment day. Most families complete prep in 2-4 hours. Notify us 48 hours in advance if you cannot complete preparation.
Treatment Day: 1 Hour Before Arrival
Turn your heat on the highest settings. Ensure parking is available for our van and generator close to the nearest window or door. Place any items of concern in a box by the front door.
Treatment Day: Morning Arrival (8-9 AM)
Our licensed technician arrives and addresses any final questions. They'll apply a crack and crevice treatment on the interior, then set up heaters and run cords to the generator. You'll need to leave the home during treatment (including all pets).
Treatment Day: Heat Phase (6 Hours)
Most structures reach lethal bed bug temperature within 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. Once achieved, our signature 6-hour treatment time begins. The technician monitors interior temperatures and may move beds, dressers, and furniture at regular intervals to ensure proper heat penetration and that all bed bugs—including eggs—are exposed to lethal heat.
Treatment Day: Desiccant Application
Toward the end of the heat service, the technician applies desiccant dust in strategic areas including wall voids. If you want wall voids treated, remove electrical face plates before service. The technician then arranges all furniture and beds as they were when we arrived.
Returning Home (1-2 Hours After Completion)
Your home will feel like a car left in the sun on a hot day—it takes hours for temperatures to return to normal. Leave unplugged electronics unplugged until the home cools. Treatment areas (door knobs, toilet seats, appliances) will remain hot for several hours. Some rearranging of furniture may be necessary. Check the refrigerator and garage for items moved during service.
After Service: Stay Vigilant
Be vigilant when traveling—inspect hotel rooms before bringing luggage in. Watch for bed bug signs in waiting rooms, buses, movie theaters, and other places where people sit for long periods. Bed bugs that appear after about 30 days are usually brought in from other locations. If you find a live bed bug following our service, call us immediately!

Frequently Asked Questions
How does heat treatment kill bed bugs?
Bed bugs and their eggs die when exposed to temperatures above 120°F for sustained periods. Our electric heaters raise your home's interior to 135-145°F—well above the lethal threshold—and maintain that temperature for several hours. Heat penetrates mattresses, walls, and furniture where bugs hide, eliminating them at every life stage without chemicals.
Is heat treatment safe for my home and belongings?
Yes, when performed by trained professionals. We use electric heaters (not propane) for safer, more controlled heating. Some items require removal before treatment: medications, candles, aerosol cans, vinyl records, and heat-sensitive electronics. Our technicians monitor temperatures throughout your home to prevent damage while ensuring lethal conditions for bed bugs.
How long does treatment take?
The full treatment day typically runs 6-8 hours, from setup to completion. You'll need to leave your home during this time. Most families return by early evening and sleep in their own beds that night—there's no need to stay elsewhere.
Do I really need to prepare my home?
Yes, preparation is essential for treatment success. Heat must reach every hiding spot, so reducing clutter and ensuring furniture is accessible is critical. We provide detailed preparation instructions, and most families complete prep in 2-4 hours. Skipping prep reduces treatment effectiveness and voids our guarantee. View all preparation documents here.
What's included in the 30-day guarantee?
The Contractor guarantees control of bed bugs for 30 days after the initial thermal treatment. If live bed bugs (not bite marks) are determined to be present within the guarantee period, we will re-treat as necessary. A canine inspection may be required for verification of live bed bug activity. Important: We cannot guarantee that bed bugs will not be reintroduced from outside sources. Services that do not include Thermal Remediation do not qualify for service guarantees. View complete terms & conditions.
Can I get an extended guarantee?
Yes, for qualifying customers. Customers who live in single-family homes with a low-level infestation and whose clutter level falls in an average range may qualify for an extended guarantee for an additional fee. Commercial customers and customers who live in multi-unit complexes (hotels, apartments, duplexes, assisted-living facilities, etc.) do not qualify for extended guarantees.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, you must notify us at least 48 hours before the scheduled service. If services are canceled less than 48 hours from the scheduled time, or if our technician arrives and cannot perform service due to insufficient preparation, a $500 cancellation fee will apply and service will be rescheduled. View complete terms & conditions.
Why combine heat with chemical treatments?
Heat kills everything present on treatment day, but provides no ongoing protection. The residual insecticides and desiccant dusts we apply after heat treatment create a protective barrier that kills any new bugs for weeks. This is critical because you might unknowingly bring home bed bugs from hotels, public transit, or visitors after treatment.
Can bed bugs survive heat treatment?
When heat treatment is performed correctly with proper preparation, survival is extremely rare. The most common cause of treatment "failure" is actually reintroduction—new bugs brought home after treatment. That's why our bundle includes residual protection and why we recommend canine verification 2-4 weeks post-treatment.
How quickly can you treat my home?
We offer same-week service in most Washington locations. After you contact us, we'll schedule a consultation, provide a quote, and book your treatment date. Urgent situations may qualify for next-day service after preparation is complete. Call (866) 760-0116 to check current availability.
Do you treat apartments and rental units?
Yes, apartments and rentals represent a significant portion of our work. We coordinate with landlords, property managers, and tenants to minimize disruption. In multi-unit buildings, we recommend treating adjacent units simultaneously to prevent bugs from escaping and returning later.
What areas do you serve?
Custom Bedbug Inc. serves all of King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, and Lewis Counties, plus many other Washington communities. Our top service areas include Kent, Seattle, Auburn, Federal Way, Tacoma, and Bremerton. View our complete service area list or call to confirm availability for your location.
What makes Custom Bedbug Inc. different?
We're a bed-bug-only company—not general pest control. With 10,000+ treatments since 2014, bed bugs are all we do. Our integrated bundle combines heat, residual chemicals, and desiccant dusts for comprehensive elimination. We offer third-party canine verification (not just our own eyes), and our 100% success guarantee reflects our confidence in our methods.
Can you treat vehicles?
Yes, we have specialized heaters designed specifically for heating small spaces including personal vehicles, commercial truck cabs, and car interiors. Note: RVs, buses, campers, and utility trailers cannot be heated with our vehicle heating service due to size constraints. Contact us for vehicle treatment pricing.
